Assoc. Prof. Eylem ÖNDER BAŞARIR

Born in Turkey, Eylem Onder Basarir began to study the violin with Nuri Ceken at Hacettepe University State Conservatory in Ankara when she was eleven years-old. She graduated from professor Cengiz Ozkok's studio in 1997. She earned her master degree with the Russian violin virtuoso Victor Pikaizen in 2000. Between 2002 and 2004, she studied with another distinguished violinist from the Russian school, Professor Server Ganiev at Bilkent University in Ankara, where she earned her doctorate of musical arts. She also held a teaching position at the same University.

In 2002, she established the "Su Trio", which means "Water Trio" in Turkish. In 2003, the group was awarded an honorary concert by "Is Sanat", a distinguished art organization in Turkey.

In addition to being a member of the national orchestras in Turkey, Eylem Onder Basarir also participated in other European orchestras, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra in Germany, and Atheneum Symphony Orchestra of the Balkans in Greece. She also gave solo concerts as a soloist in Turkey, the USA with the UMD Orchestra of Minnesota University, the FIMU festival of France, and in Paris with Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra. She gave recitals in Austria and Switzerland. She was also invited to preside over masterclasses in Minnesota University in 2007 and in Sacre-Coeur Pressbaum School in Vienna in 2010.

For 10 years between 2000-2010 she held the concertmaster position in the Academic Orchestra of Hacettepe University State Conservatory where she also works as a faculty member in the music department.
